Penalties should definitely be harsher. A simple comparison with other countries should tell the story. Singapore is probably the only developed country where pedestrians need to give way to cars on zebra crossing. Drivers should be placed with more responsibility and harsher penalty even if they have the right of way when a life is injured or lost. Maximum 8 years sentence is appalling!
